Like my calculus teacher said, "math is not an expetator's sport." You won't learn just by watching someone else do it nor by simply reading the book. You have to pick up your pencil and start doing problems-many of them-and then some more

OK
in basic algera there is one varible
usually x
in normal arithmatic,
you are given something like
1+5=?
solve for ?
the answer is obviously 6.
in aglerbra, one you are given that the answer to your
question is 6, but they don't tell you that one of the numbers
being added is 1.
so they ask you
?+5=6
you have to figure out what is ?
in algebra ? is ussualy called x.
this is a variable
to figure out x in the equation
x+5=6
you must use algebra.
in equations, after all operations such as addition, subrtaction, multiplication, and division are done, the part on the right of the = sign is equal to the part on the left. so
1+5=6 and 6=6
this property must always be true. what you do to one side, you have to do to the other.
so
x+5=6
so you must subtract 5 from both sides.
x+5-5= x
subtracting 5 will make the 5 dissapear.
since you subtracted 5 from this side of the = sign
you must do the same to the other.so subtract 5 from 6
6-5=1
now the equation is
x=1
you have just figured out what x is.
in summary,
x+5=6 the begging
x+5-5=6-5 subtract 5
x=1 simplify the two sides.
if the side with the variable
is of the
x+"a number"
type
subtract the opposite number. like 5 -5
this will git rid of the unnecessary number, by cancelling it out
if it is of the
x-"a number"
do the same
for any more questions post another question

Algebra is a way of using abstract methods to find out a problem. It is a type of mathematics that is used to find out answers to problems in life. It can be found in science, quantum physics, math, equations, and other things. Usually in algebra, you use variables, or letters that stand for numbers, in your problems.
