3mph means you do 3 miles in an hour. so :

3 miles in 60 min
.4 miles in x min

then

3x = 60 * 0.4
3x = 24 / divide by 3
x = 8

answer

3 miles/1 hour = 0.4 miles / x hours

Cross-multiply these by taking the top part of one side times the bottom part of the other side. Then vice versa.

3x = 0.4 Now divide both sides by 3.
x = 0.13 hours
