It takes about 4-6 weeks if you take good care of them (regular cleaning, no irritating clothing, etc.)

Belly button takes awhile. It may appear to be healed on the outside in about 6 weeks, but it could take up to a year for it to completely heal all the way through. I have had this piercing, and it didn't quite work for me. @ the piercing place they called it surfacing. Instead of the skin around it healing, my body pushed the ring forward and through my skin, instead of healing around it. It is a rare, but spontaneous occurrence that can't be prevented. Not trying to scare you, but it happens. As far as the lip piercing, i haven't had that one. I have had a labret, though.(the area between the lip and chin. Generally, oral piercings are the quickest to heal because the mouth is extremely resilient. Think about it, when you bite your tongue you are in agony, but 20 or 30 minutes later, you completely forget about it. The only thing about the lip is that you are piercing the inside of the mouth and the skin on the outside. Skin heals slower than your inner mouth, but all in all, your lip should be healed in 6-8 weeks. Just remember, piercings are fun body art, but they are serious-good hygiene and aftercare are essential. Good luck!

I had my belly button pierced and after 2 courses of antibiotics it was finally healed after 6 months. I kept it clean and did everything that I was told and it sill got infected...I was able to show it off 1 month after without redness but there was most definitely pain. As far as the lip ring goes...sorry, no clue.

It all depends on your genes. Some people heal faster then others. Plus it also depends on the quality of the piercing, if the person who is giving you the lip and belly ring knows what they are doing, it should heal faster.

I have no knowledge about belly button piercings....but I see kids in the ER all the time with infected lip rings. They NEVER really 'heal' ... because they are going through moist tissue ... it never dries...there are any NUMBER of 'bugs' in the mouth....it's just impossible FOR them to 'heal'. They might be 'comfortable'....but this does NOT mean they are 'healed'.
