I don't feel comfortable going to get a spray on tan and i am not going to a tanning bed. Would tanning oils help, i really don't want a gradual tan lotion but i will if i have to. FYI: I have fair skin and i don't want to go too dark.

PS: Tried Jergens didn't like it (smells to strong)

The best and safest way to tan is self tanners. The tanning salons damage several layers beneath the skin. I have used expensive and not so expensive self tanners and the best one that I have found is Loreal Sublime Bronze. The color I love is Medium Deep. It will show you the color you will be as you put it on. It is beautiful in the sunlight. Don't buy the gels, they dry so quick your hands will stain. The lotions are much better and be sure to exfoliate all over for clean skin and an even tan. Good luck.

Well from personal experience I have found the best way is to do it naturally with a tanning lotion of about 5-10spf. Otherwise you will burn. Only do it for 10 minutes the first couple of times then you can gradually go for longer periods of time. Eventually your skin wont burn as easily but be careful and watch for cancer. : ) I dont like lotions and sprays because they wear off and begin to peel. Natural sunlight I think works the best! So have fun and go to the beach and before you know it you will be tan!

It only takes about a week but you can use it longer if you want. And it smells amazing!

Any heat souce which tans you, is the same as subjecting yourself to be roasted like the Thanksgiving Day turkey. This is not meant to be a joke, ask your doctor, and see if he doesn't confirm what I say.

Tan lotion.
If you don't like the smells, just open one up at the store and smell it before you buy it.
