Epsilon (1997) aka Alien Visitor.
Like two ships passing in the night...a man and woman meet by accident...are forever altered by that meeting...and the world will never be the same.
No car chases...no monsters...no explosions...just a very quiet and cerebral journey into the meeting of two soulmates. Beautiful.
I dug Fire in the Sky also. Check out Lifeforce by Tobe Hooper. Good stuff.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind, for sure. I think it's the best sci-fi film of any type, after Star Wars.
