i have recently got into the x-men movies and somethings confused me..... was wolverine a mutant before he got all the metal put in him? and why did they do this? also why cant he remember nothin?it would be nice to know because i have reallly gotten into this and i just want to know his bio.

Watch the first two movies to get a handle on it. But basically, he was a mutant found by the military. His mutant power was hyper-fast healing and heightened senses. They took him, laced his bones with adamantium, erased his memory and trained him to be an assassin. He eventually escaped and has been trying to piece together his past since then.

yes...he was a mutant before
the scientists wanted to see if they could graft admantium onto the skeleton of a mutant who had a really strong healing factor...for he would need it.
