Oldest I can remember is from Christmas 1992, while I was watching Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore (I was 3)
There's more than one advert I know, but the ones that stand out are:
- Micro Chips "If you got kids under your feet.... and they want something quick to eat..."
- The Ford Probe Advert "You can go your own way"
- Honey Nut Loops
- Possibly some of the Granada trailers that played Tequila
Then there was the Home Alone 2 trailer.. "This time Kevin and his family all made the plane.. just not the same plane"

hehe! I'm sitting here watching the top 100 tv adverts on channel 4. apparently you can tell an age of a person by the flake girl they remember.
and yes the toothpaste advert was the very first advert ever shown on british tv.
I think the smash adverts are the oldest and most memorable for me.

The oldest TV advert that I can remember was for Gibbs SR toothpaste. It was also the first advert ever shown on British commercial television.

not sure on the oldest but the longest standing jingle to an advert was for a bra. I can remember seeing an advert for a bra as a kid and the jingle has stuck with me for 20 plus years.
went like this;
we took the wire out of underwire bras
and there isn't any wire anymore
sad isn't it

I think the first TV ad was for toothpaste. I don't remember it, but the question has been asked on several quiz shows.
