MY DAUGHTER IS ABOUT TO BE 5 AND WANTS TO DO GYMNASTICS. SHE SAYS SHE WANTS TO DO WHAT THE GIRLS ON TV DO AND WIN MEDALS. WHEN CAN SHE ENROLL IN COMPETATIVE GYMNASTICS AND ARE THE PRESCHOOL CLASSES OK FOR GETTING STARTED?

Just for starters, get her in a regular gymnastics class first to learn her skills before she starts to get competitive. She may want to do this now, but when they find out that it's harder than they thought or they end up not liking it, the competitive team is a waste of money. That happens all the time.

Once she does that for about a year, get her into a competitive class and company. From there she will work with her coaches to join a team. If you want or think she needs a little more one-on-one with the coaches or needs her own coach, then get her in a private lesson class so one coach can cater to her own needs and get her where she needs to be for her skill level.

When she gets more serious about the sport and gets older to go on national teams, this is where this comes in.
There are 10 levels of gymnastics before you can go pro. Starting at level 8 you start to be in "elite" classes and gymnasts getting ready for the pro world, aspiring to be on the National Team. Levels 1 through 4 are basic skills. 5 through 7 are intermediate and 8 and above is advanced or elite. When you get to level 9 or 10, your coach and your team will be going to competitions just to be on the national team. She will go through extensive training classes almost every day of the week.

If she really wants to do this, then go all out for her, it's not cheap but if she's willing to work hard then I say go for it. If this is more of a pasttime and not too serious then just get her into a community class that doesn't cost so much and isn't so time consuming.

Well I'm in cheerleading which is kind of like gymnastics because it requires tumbling. Wll your daughter can start right now! You should try to search for a gymnastics area around your area and sign her up. But you might want to put her in beginning gymnastics classes so she knows the basics and she can work her way up and then you should probably ask her coach when she can start competing
