I requested shipping confirmation on a priority package I sent the other day; I didn't expect it to arrive at its destination by today (it didn't) but out of curiosity, I checked its status online.
The package is going from Georgia to Connecticut. So why oh why is it in PORTLAND, OREGON, a few thousand miles across the country?
How does shipping in the USPS work? And why does a package that I could DRIVE to its destination in under a day need to go cross-country to presumably be flown back to Connecticut, or who knows where?

Well, it seems I have my answer: For some unknown reason, my clearly labeled package was just DELIVERED to Portland, Oregon, if the USPS tracking info is to be believed. Who was it delivered to? I don't know! Oh Postal Service, is there nothing you can do to make people hate you less?
