No, I don't think so. Names are so varied nowadays and by the time they reach secondary school they have abbreviated the name you gave them, or found a nickname that they are insistent on using.
I prefer Harold though!

I think that names come and go and then come back into popularity again. I like Harold and Harry or Henry is a nice nickname. As far as Fred , that also is a good nickname for either Alfred or Fredrick. Go with the name that makes you happy. Both names are very good ones in my opinion.

Depends on the personalities of Harold and Fred, I suppose. Just who the hell are Harold and Fred anyway? Lol.

I think this will be the next big trend. Going back to the 40s. If you notice the old hair styles are coming back The Marylin Monroe look. I think it's a great idea and just about the only thing that is fresh. These multi syllabic girls names that sound like infectious bacterial strains.....ugh...and the idiotic spellings like Gehyal for Gail. People will say that he will be made fun of but it's the individual not the name that invites and allows ridicule. Best Wishes

Harold is a bit old fashioned. I picture any Harold wearing a suit and a tie...
Fred is kind of cute.

Harold is my grandfathers name that passed 1.5 years ago. He was the best man that I ever knew.
So I like it way better than Fred.

It depends on if you are an old fashion kind of person. In my opinion I like more modern names. And more unique I mean everyone has the names Harold and Frank (Old Grandfathers most.) but if you like it thats all that mattters, and if you are naming him after someone I think that is fine.

Hmm I'm not a big fan of Harold but I dont think Fred would be bad if it was short for Frederick or something.

No, they're just traditional and classic names.
If you were to name your child Harold or Fred you could always top it off with a modern middle name.
