I think that it is great. If that is what you need to do. Sometimes people need to abstain from different things so that they can return their focus onto their own lives and possible issue rather than hide from them in other things.

I believe it's important to save yourself for what you believe in; whether it be religious (such as nuns, priests, monks, etc. taking vows of abstinence) or until you find someone that you know you'll always be with.

I think people enforce the "abstinence until marriage" rule too rigidly; plenty of people that are legitimately in love and respectful and devoted to each other are told that having sex is wrong while apparently, it's okay for those who are in terrible relationships but are married. It doesn't make sense. I say, if you're going tobe with the person forever, it's okay in any context so long as it's respectful.

I think it sucks, and it's very hard to achieve....although when I broke up with a few years back I vowed not to sleep with anyone on the scene until I was sure I committ myself to them. I needed it to be a meaningful experience. I am happy to say my current partner and I didn't sleep together for our first 8 months, and we have been together for nearly 2 years. It's phenominal how much love, dedication, honesty and committment we have towards one another. On top of that, the sex was sooooo good because we'd waited so long and let that tension build up....I would highly recommend it for the right reasons.

it's both good and bad. The good thing is that you dont have to worry about getting an STD, HIV, or getting pregnant. however, The first time they end up having sex with someone they may become too close to that person and think that they have found "the one" and the other person may not think that.

I have abstained from sex since the death of my partner, never having found another to take her place. Since I recovered from mental illness and forgave those who brought on my hatred, love has slowly come back to me and LOVE is the one thing I will never again abstain from or leave behind.

depends? Does that include masturbation, cause I can get more out of that a lot of times than with another person.

I will never, ever abstain from rich Belgian chocolate. Don't even suggest such a thing.

I think it's a waste. I think it's what some fun-duh-mentalists try to push for people who don't do sex their way.
And I think it's an excuse people who can't get some use. Either can't get it because their heads are so screwed, or because they don't know how to pursue a good sexual encounter.

It's a personal issue. If you want to, why not? If you don't want to, what's so bad about that?
