It's not safe to insert a tampon (and leave it there) if you are not bleeding. Something about the chemicals absorbing better and having to pull a dry tampon out and getting those tampon fibers inside you.
Not a good idea.

Tampons are only used for when you are on your cycle. Read the instructions that come with the product you are using because there are risks sometimes involved when using tampons like T.S.S. (toxic shock syndrome). This happens when you use a bigger size then needed or leave them in for longer than an 8 hr period of time. READ THE DIRECTIONS

No you can't.
This puts you at extreme risk of getting TSS [toxic shock syndrome]. TSS Can be fatal [it can KILL you].
Tampons shouldn't be messed with and should be used for when you are bleeding only. Use sanitary towels when you're on your period & you've got a light flow, though as this eliminates TSS altogether.

if your not actually bleeding right at this moment then i wouldn't advise putting a tampon in. as they can cause problems if left in for too long.

Are you wanting to practice putting one in for next time? It is highly inadvisable. There's not enough lubrication, which will make it hard to get it, and since there's no blood it will only dry you out, and hurt to take out. Also, if there's no blood and you remove it it could leave a lot of fibers in there and you could get TSS. Please just wait.

Hmm. Why use one if you are not bleeding? You should limit your use to while your on your period only . If you need some sort of protection, wear a pad or a pantyliner
