You may be thinking of the San Francisco volcanic mountains around Flagstaff, Arizona. You can even visit one of the dormant volcanoes at Sunset Crater National Monument! Just take Interstate 40 to get to Flagstaff, and follow the signs northward from there.

None in the city of SF. There's a dormant volcano in the East Bay Hills at Sibley Regional Park. Otherwise the nearest volcano to SF I know of is about 125 mi north, Mt Konocti.

There are no volcanos in the bay area that I am aware of. Maybe you are thinking of the large earthquake fault that is located in California.
