I have been told there is a 90% chance they are cancerous. I know this was based on the fact that I am a fairly heavy smoker and female. I am told they need to go back in (with me under anesthesia) and scrap them off and then biopsy them to see. Also, if they have rooted into other areas. They constantly ask me if I am diabetic and I tell them I believe I am but have not been diagnosed by a Dr.(only because I don't see a Dr. on a regular basis) I have smoked for over 40 yrs and I only noticed the problem (blood and clots in my urine) for about 8 months now. About the same time I took a hard hit to my lower abdomen area when I fell at work. I think Dr. has tunnel vision because I am a smoker. Anyone else been diagnosed with this? If so, what were the results/findings in your case.

you most likely have either a bladder tumor or some form of kidney mass. The odds of it being cancer depend on many things. The main thing is to go have the cystoscopy, which is a simple outpatient surgery. They will get a biopsy and determine a course of treatment. Bladder cancer is common in people that smoke or worked in the textile indusrty and were exposed a a type of dye that was used quite a few years ago. Survival is totally dependent upon correct diagnosis and early treatment. This surgery can be quite extensive. It you try some alternative care not based on the diagnosis made by a pathologist, you are only going to insure that you die if this is a cancerous mass. Once again, it is a very simple outpatient visit with little pain to do the biopsy.

1. one of the major risk factors for bladder cancer is smoking. Sorry if you don't want to hear that, but it is the truth. Smoking causes lung cancer, emphysema, bladder cancer, oral cancers, heart disease among other things. Sounds like you have a mistrust of doctors. If you are diabetic, you should be seeing a doctor regularly.

2. blood and clots in your urine is a serious symptom, and bladder CA is the top of the list. It needs to be ruled out. If it is cancerous, you need to start treatment soon. 8 months is too long to wait with such serious symptoms.

3. There are NO "alternative" treatments for bladder cancer....(well, none that actually work, although there are lots of people who will sell you things that won't work.)

4. I think you are in denial. Get a second opinion if you want, but please don't delay.

if you are unhappy about your Drs answer, get a second opinion
better yet get the Dr to have a specialist do an x-ray to determine if it really is cancer
if it is by all means have something done about it
if left untreated, cancer is known to spread good luck
