This could well be a symptom of a pill which has too little oestrogen to control your cycle. Go see your GP and discuss.

I was on a low dose pill, and after a year started having breakthrough bleeding, like a week before my period was due. Spotting is usually the first and best sign tha/t you're pill dosage is too low, besides being pregnant of course. I had just gotten my pill refilled for a year before I started spotting and didn't wanna go back to my obgyn, so I just stopped taking them all together. Feel much better by the way. But you should go see your obgyn, chances are you'll just have get on a higher dose pill.

that is it, breakthrough bleeding or getting pms symptoms like you are about to get your period. It is quite easy for the doctor to increase the strength, probably just takes a phone call. As a precaution, make sure you didn't miss any and possibly become pregnant, meaning that could be the cause? Lower dosages do give a lot of breakthrough, been there.

Your right to think that your dosage may be too low. Its most likely that you are on a low dose pogestrone pill. Most birth control pills have lower levels of testosterone and pogesterone than estrogen. Typically break through bleeding occurs when the hormone levels in the pill begin to dissipate (typically the last week to few days of the packet) Your doctor will most likely percribe a higher leveled pogestrone pill such as ortho novem, or the birth control patch to correct the problem

When I had problems with low dose birth control pills when it came to estrogen levels not only did I have breakthrough bleeding that caused me to wear a ton of pads but I also found that my iron levels got lower because of all the bleeding. The other thing I noticed with one particular kind of birth control pill is that I had some issues with pain, burning, and itching in my breasts, left became the most problematic on this issue for me. The minute I went back on a higher dose birth control pill I was ok.

I now take Lo/Ovral and have done pretty well with it.

Speak with your doctor or health care provider...This pill may be too low for you...Do you take it on time every day? The new lo-dose pills aren't very forgiving if you take them late.....I would call asap to see if a change of med is in order
