Of course they can't point them in the right immidiate, short term and long term direction without knowing what that direction is, but if they really really try much harder know that direction (in terms of philosophical, tactical, stratigic diplomatic and policy direction) and then get things moving in that direction in the most effective, positive, productive, polite, subtle way so governments would have no reason to resist it (of course the aproach would have to be continueally refined so as to eliminate causes of resistence) then wouldn't that be a very very good thing?

Of course they'll have to do so competently and the level of there writing will have to be much higher but the point is they can help steer this huge barely managible creation of human society and civilization and government in directions away from it's own self destruction and towards it being about the betterment of all people, if they can help do that then why in the world shouldn't they? free speech means you can try to do anything you want with that speech, why not put ones speech towards a good use?

No - I believe more in the power of the public than in the power of the world press. Nothing is as potent as the voice of the people.

While the press can inform the public - it is still the pressure of the voters apply that make a difference.

Never underestimate the power of writing a letter. While mail room employees are trained to dump petitions that do not have verifiable voter information - and "bulk" copy-cat mailings... a letter written by an individual is seen as a reflection of many thousands of person's opinions. They carry weight. WE choose the direction through action or inaction.

The worlds press agencies should try something really new and innovative in regard to the News. They should report the facts and the truth after they verify that it is the truthful and factual information. Oh My God! I did it. I put it in black and white. "Report the facts and the truth". How could I have said such a thing. The news rooms of the world would have to hire reporters and researchers to run down facts. The strategists, psycho foliographists and pathosophicists would be out of work forever because their occupations were created for the contrivance of information that would now be reported as simple fact. The talking heads of television would be lopped off because we wouldn't need usta was has beens to dream up fictitious scenarios of mighta beens and coulda dids because we are just reporting facts. What a Wonderful World that could be.

It wouldn't ever happen cuz the gov. controls the press. The press is there to make the gov. look good no matter what.. occasionally they'll tell us some bad point about them, but that's just to make us think there working for us. We are a brain washed society....
