when you get older you will understand that is how the world works.. you cannot walk around being "yourself" all the time. in other words if you dont like someone or something it RARELY helps to be negitive or tell how you really feel. especialy with family, they are the only ones you have.
being young you dont realize that "fake friendly" is actualy courtesy and polite.

wow, my son used to say that all the time about me.. I think in a social situation you are not having to deal with things . I mean, for example at a family picnic we are there to socialize and enjoy the time, so we are more relaxed with a clear mind.. but at home on a normal day we would have the stress of doing things that needed done and other issues that would come up, which when there are teens or other children in the house there are many issues.. lol .. am I making any sense.?? I was never being fake, it was just the different environments and moods..

I'm assuming her true self is hideous. If so it's not wrong to want to strangle her with your shoelaces, it's just wrong to do it. You will go to jail and she will still be free to be her fake friendly self. Just roll your eyes and concentrate on being your true self.

Most people are keeping up appearances in all different forms. If you are a teenager, it is not uncommon to have some hostility towards your parents. Your mother may have some unresolved anger issues which would not go over too well anyone for a long period of time.

I deal with that too. My mom is a crank around me, but when others are over she is pretty friendly. And after she gets off the phone, you can tell how mad she is by how she hangs up the phone. She usually slams the phone down which means she's angry. (must be pms or something) Thank God I moved out!

LOL, I understand your frustration but we all want to paint the best pictures about our lives when other people are around. Its kind of a defense mechanism. I could be in a big fight with my husband or one of my kids and as soon as the doorbell rings I plaster the biggest smile you have ever seen.

It just depends on who "they" are, people are different with other people think of how YOU act when you are with friends vs teachers, vs family. It's about perception. But lay off the strangling feelings, just roll your eyes, and roll with it :)

My mom does that on the phone too and it annoys me so bad. She has two separate voices. I think its normal to want to pick up the other line and say hey this isnt what she is really like she was screaming and farting all over before.

LMAO! I totally know where your coming from with this question. And I totally feel you on wanting to strangle her but please dont. lmoa. You will miss her once she's gone with her all her phoniness included. Just take it easy and try to stay to yourself. When you know company is coming get out of there asap and you wont have to deal with?
