I have a small creek bed that Im work'g on to run dowhill also deepen & widen'd. The rain water runs off of my neighbor's property & onto mine, & floods our road to where my neighbors cant get out. So I have to do something.
My 3 ideas all include a retain'g pond, a re~circulation system w/ a pump, pvc, a spout & river rock. Only 2 of them would use a drip system.
My neighbor bought the expensive black hoses w/ the holes in them for her drip system & they're alreay dry~rot'g from the heat here (100 ~ 130). Granted it doesnt rain here in Arizona, but yet they r dry~rotting.
So which would b better to use~ Garden Hoses ~the real heavy stuff or the 1 Black Hose that's really tiny w/ a bubbler on the end (dont forget the dirt here isnt Ur every day stuff. It gets heavy & hardens to cement type substance. I already broke a shovel here), or the other Black Hose that's thick & full of holes?

Thin Black Holey Hoses? If you mean soaker hoses; yes, they do seem to deteriorate faster in strong UV environments.
I've used drip systems extensively in hot, strong sun conditions. Use the 1/2" feeder pipe with drippers or the low flow sprinklers (extended with the "tiny hoses") and I think you'll have good results.

The proper black irrigation pipe should work out fine, and you can bury it under mulch etc to stop the heat affecting it, but I'm a bit worried about silt etc blocking they fine holes inthe pipe. If you put down the ordinary black irrigation pipe with the smaller leads off and the adjustable drippers it would be more expensive but you would be able to clear them easily. Any system you put in would have to have some sort of filtration to make it would by the sounds of things.

I would inquire with irrigations suppliers and ask each what they would do in you situation. Hopefully you will be able to find all the problems and you will be able to make an informed choice and will save money in the end.

Use the black hose (ranch pipe). It lasts out here in AZ, but rodents tend to chew on them. Fittings are relatively inexpensive and easy to install. The ranch pipe is nice, because you can customize it by making your own holes. The preholed ones are only good if you plan to USE all the holes. The rainbird website have good info on it.

You should use a drip system, they are better and last well. They work and get a job done

i would check with my neighbor regarding their run off. they should be responsible for fixing the problem. their home insurance should take care of it. that way you can hire someone to come in and do it once and do it right. good luck!
