my friend just got a boyrfiend and she hasnt had one in 4 years. and now she thinks she wants to get married to this guy in the future. (shes 23) but shes not like... "experienced" in dating. so for her birthday i thought i might get her a book about dating tips or something like that?

do you think thats weird to get a book about dating for a friend? or is it ok? or like how would you feel in her situation to be getting it? or do you have any other ideas on what to get her? or any suggestions on good dating books if you think its a good idea?

haha thanksssss

i think it's a good idea! i wouldn't react terriebly to the gift! if she's thinking sh'es ready to get married then that book might be the key to her REAL thoughts! after she reads that book her thoughts might change and she would probably have a better chance of not getting hurt if she makes the wronge choice...but it he really is the right guy....she'll just know what to do in "wierd" situation.

Depends on how close a friends you are and what kind of intention you are putting behind it. Personally it sounds like she needs to make her own decision. With no disrespect to you. I am sure you only want the best for your friend but Me personally would approach my friend about it first before I would take such a bold initiative. Instead, for her birthday take her out to lunch and test the waters tell her about a guy in the corner that thinks she is hot, boost up her self confidence to meet a few new people. Buying a book like that has potential of going badly or being taken the wrong way.

Well, to be honest, I think that a book on dating for someone 23 is a little odd. But there are books out there that may be helpful. Maybe one about relationships (male and female), or one that talks about today's woman and the world around her. I am thinking, hope I am on the right track, that you are worried about her getting herself in too deep too fast. There was a book my sister got me called something like Women and their Body. It talked all about women and relationships, health issues, sexual issues, etc. This would cover so much of what she needs to know.

Hope I was helpful. Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be the right thing. You sound like a truly caring friend.

Maybe you shouldn't get her a book about dating on her birthday...but any other day would be cool. I wouldn't find it offensive. It's nice to learn new things about what's important but it would be a lil embarrassing on my birthday. You should talk to her about this guy, the least you can do is be a friend. She has her whole life ahead of her, she should enjoy it.

i think its more of an insult getting a friend a dating book for their birthday because its like saying they don't have good dating skills

Well, she is not a teenager or anything, so unless you two were really close, like best freinds forever, then It probably wouldnt be the best idea.
