Is there anything else I will need to do to my laptop after I install the wireless card?

Any wireless card will do. Make sure you get the "g" specification for 54M speed.

Anything else? Yea... Make sure you know all about firewalls, windows update, spyware, and viruses - and protect yourself accordingly.

Dont connect to unsecured networks unless you have to. Anyone can see your data, so dont pass sensitive data if you do.

in case you want prompt on your place you will might desire to get a router or some form of prompt connection to have the means to apply prompt at domicile. in case you do no longer decide to try this you may get any decision of cyber web provider this is on your section the two modem or severe velocity cyber web cable and not use the prompt card this is on your pc. in case you visit cafes or different places like a campus or some downtown section's that grant prompt cyber web then you particularly are already set to apply those centers.

The cheapest one from a decent maker...

For instance in the UK a supermarket chain was selling a linksys pcmcia one for £15 - thats about $30.
