I use the generic avatars. The reason people can't ignore them is the same reason all the traffic slows down at a gruesome accident. The staring geeks are sick & perverted.

I don't think that they will change it, but just don't talk about it anymore, and he will think that nobody cares anymore, which nobody should, and then he will get bored and won't get back on.
