NO ALL TROOPS should refuse to fight in this Imperialist mission.
The Country doesn't wanted.
It is a war based on lies.
Slaughtering more Iraqis and ruining their culture is an immoral objective.
The orders of lunatics are to be disobeyed.
America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.
why die for a lie?
No honor in this war no matter how you look at it.
Come home and send reparations for invading another country.

I don't think they should do jail time.
Perhaps the Dept. of Defense can find some other way to reprimand soldiers who refuse to return. It has got to be pretty bad over there if a person is willing to leave the country or commit suicide just to get out it though.
But I think it depends on what the written contract stated when they enlisted. Legally they can be prosecuted.
I agree that they signed up to protect and fight for OUR country 's freedom.

Ah, but was it "voluntary" to have your enlistment time arbitrarily extended beyond what you agreed to? That action is called "stop-loss," and I don't recall it being pointed out on my enlistment papers. It is a conniving, back door draft, and our entire military system needs an overhaul -- I mean a revolutionary paradigm shift concerning how the entire thing is organized. For example, having officers and enlisted men may be obsolete. Perhaps we just need one, larger chain of ranks. Think about it people. Tradition doesn't deserve your respect unless it earns it.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. Those who were already in when ther Commander in Chimp decided to use the soldiers as his personal Luca Brasi, they should be able to opt out. Most of them joined during peace time because they were working toward college money via the G.I. bill. Those stupid enough to inlist after Afghanistan should be made to live with the stupid choice they made. Iraq did not attack this soil and had not ther ability to do so. That is just the belief of those namby pamby, stick their head in the sand, scary cats.
It was this kind of impiralism that we supposing with to was with Japan for.

If you ask me, I think Bush should be punished for getting us into this unwanted and useless war anyways. There was no need to invade Iraq but Bush did it just to take care of his Daddy's unfinished business from the 1991 Gulf Police action.

Yes, they should be punished. When they enlisted, they agreed to obey their commander-in-chief: the President.
The war in Iraq is not an immoral war; that's just your personal bias and opinion. We are there to free the Iraqi people and help them establish a stable democracy. Yes, it's a mess right now and certainly mistakes have been made, but please point to one war in history where that was not the case at some point ... especially in the middle.
And the only Iraqis who don't want democracy are those who were in power under Saddam and want to return to that situation.
As for WMDs, there is plenty of documented evidence of nerve gas and other chemical weapons, as well as proof that Saddam's nuclear weapons program was simply dorment and not deconstructed.

Yes they should, because people join the army VOLUNTARILY, not by a draft. If they do not listen to their superiors, it is pretty much a crime in the military as that is the last thing you should do.

They should be promoted and given a medal for bravery. Our only hope when our government turns our military on US is that enough soldiers will have a conscious.
Stand up for your freedom and support troops with a conscious.

Unfortunately Bush, wants them to fight a political correct war.
With ridiculous rules of engagement. (I was there)
No country ever fought a p/c war and won.
Bush is the worst President this country ever had.

While soldiers did enlist voluntarily, when they did that, they no longer became civilians. They are property of the United States government. I think they should go to prison for refusing to go to Iraq. Only 14% of US citizens are against the war in Iraq. And for your information, we are NOT forcing our ways on them. We are trying to make their lives a little more liveable and a little more tollerable.
