Trojan for as long as he's paid well and treated like a God at USC...so I'd say he's 4-life!

I think Pete Carroll and a lot of other big time College coaches are in the college ranks because it suits them better. Some guys like being able to recruit their teams and often times have more control over the make up of the team than they would at the professional level. At the professional level, there are constraints to include salary caps, general manager and owner preferences(look at the Raiders here), and you have to deal with other things like egos and agents. At the college level, you can recruit whomever you want and it doesn't matter at what cost. Being at USC, Coach Carroll has the luxury of having the USC name behind him. You know going to and playing at USC you are going to be televised nationally at least 8 games a year. Miami, FSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame all have the same thing. Coach Carroll has been at the Pro level and chose to go to USC over other Pro positions. I think that is explanation enough. I am sure he considers each offer that comes to him, but in my opinion, he is home.

He already has coached in the pros (he was Bill Belichick's predecessor with the New England Patriots). Based on the relative lack of success he had there (the guy before him, Parcells, and the guy after him, Belichick, both made Super Bowls but he didn't) and the GREAT success he's had at USC, I don't see him leaving for as long as SoCal will have him.

He has coached in the pros and I've heard him say in several interviews that he has no desire, and no amount of money could convince him to go back into the pros. He is happier and more content coaching in college.

I think he has arguably the best coaching job in America.
Great area to live, program with a rich history, job security after the job he has done rebuilding the program.

He was a pro coach before, as was noted. He'd be an absolute idiot to leave USC.
