Would you stop watching a tv show, reading certain books, not go to see a movie, not buy a music album because the artist's political views (conservative or liberal) disagreed with your own? Even if the art in question had nothing to do with the artist's politics?
Do you spend the day glued to a cable news station (CNN, C-Span, Fox, Msnbc) or listening to a talk radio station?
Do you talk your friends to death or constantly email them about political issues?
In other words- Are you a political junkie? And if so, why?
PS. -None of this counts if it is a part of what you do for a living.

No. John Wayne was a racist yet I still watch his movies. Reagan was the worst plague on America yet I still would watch a Reagan movie.
Neo-cons are more apt to allow their political hatred to trump all reasoning. "Freedom" fries, Hanoi Jane, and the like. Their hatred is so over the top that Bush refused to talk with countries he does not personally like. What a statesmen...

Politics influences my choices for sure. I wouldn't buy a Dixie Chicks album before because I thought their product was garbage, now I won't support their cause monetarily. I avoid giving my entertainment dollar to artists I don't agree with. I won't support Sean Penn because of his ideology, why should I support him financially? I don't make the same choices with TV however and I rarely watch cable news or any televised news for that matter. I recieve many political emails and forward them to like-minded people but I rarely start those threads. My favorite author did a very leftist post on his webpage in a section dedicated to news about his upcoming book, I emailed him with my dissenting opinion and my disapproval of him ranting in that forum, he replyed and we had an interesting debate and he created a seperate blog to voice his political views instead of posting them on his upcoming news page, I still buy his books. I spend most of my politcal energy right here on YA, although I am an active member of my politcal party. I work in a program sending letters and packaging care packages for our troops, but that is less a politcal statement than just what I care to do to support them.

I hate political junkies- they're no different then people who fixate on celebrities, except instead of buying the National Enquiry or watching "Extra", they watch CNN or Fox News.
Isn't there anything in your own life to be interested in?

Not even close, but I could almost replace "political" with "moral", because I try to live a moral life every moment.
To me, every thought, word, and action has a moral component to it, even if we don't realize it sometimes.
However, many things are political in my life, because in this highly politicized and deeply divided country, almost any action in the public realm is subject to political discussion and analyzing.

I do everything you say, except talk my friends to death or e-mail them about political issues. That's what the party meetings are for. And, to vent - that's what Y/A Answers is for.

9/11 CHANGED OUR WAY OF LIFE ; AND YES-FREEDOM
IS IMPORTANT TO ME .
Never before have we had to deal with radicals so dedicated to changing all America stands for : Democracy ; freedom ..The left -wing democrats want to get rid of Christmas ; the right to utter the word God - while foreign beliefs are favored- they hate our flag ; even our use of the Internet and seek to deplete our military while they coddle the very people who kidnap;kill&torture & maim our brave military .You're asking if i would knowingly support those who do this-or glorify these things ? When a new one comes to light , I make a mental note to steer clear of anything that will benefit these dangerous kooks & their agenda . You bet ..in more ways than one .
