The truth is after people became aware of HIV/AIDS, gay men were the highest risk factors and over time with campaigns on safe sex the rate decreased but due to cuts in health education funding the rates are beginning to rise because more gay men are having unprotected sex. Other factors do play a role in getting HIV but the most important is whether or not you practice safe sex.
Another fact is that sexually active gay men tend to have many more sex partners, as compared to their heterosexual counterparts, which also increases chances of getting infected. The best thing to do is increase knowledge about HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases and increase access to condoms, will help decrease that rate. Many gay bars/clubs use to have condoms out for free but many now longer do.
One other factor that is also causing an increase, is Crystal Meth use. Taking this drug increases sexual urges and decreases inhibition. It also decreases the chance that condoms will be used and the sex tends to be more rougher causing an increase in tears and exposure to blood and the circulatory system.

faulty premise...in fact, many, many more straigth men are infected than gay men. Where are you getting your facts? HIV is much more easily transmitted from infected woman to man than from man to man, regardless of what kind of sex man to man is. There are entire countries dying of HIV/AIDS...and they are not "Gay" countries. Get a grip on facts before you go running your mouth. You make yourself look ignorant. Not one of your better looks.

Because we have more sex than straight males, we dont use as much protection since there is no fear of pregnacy.
But it is almost the same for the straights, the numbers are not that much different.

Because of the way they have sex. HIV and other STD transmission is faster and more effective when it is transmitted blood to blood as is the case when having sex in a place that is not naturally lubricated and ripping and tearing occurs...so to speak

Becuase butt sex causes internal bleeding of the rectum which makes transmission of the virus much easier.
