How do you use the Photoshop Slice Tool, and what's it's point???

Slice tool is part of Adobe ImageReady toolset. The purpose of this tool is to allow you to divide an image into many parts so that when you insert the image on your web page, it is added and loaded as many pieces stiched together. This method of loading images make it less annoying to slow connection users.
