If this is your sole friend of that title, the funnest, hyperest, most awesome friend to chill with, of course it hurts. It STINGS.
Why? You miss her. You don't miss whatever you're mad at her about (her additude, opinion, whatever) you miss her company.
Chances are, you two are really tight. If it's stressful, it's because you miss that. You miss the fact that you can't pick up the phone and call her, because, Oh yeah, you're fighting.
Also, the stress may lie in knowing all this, but not being willing to apoligize. Is it because she'll gloat? Because other people are in on this? To end a fight, apologies aren't nessacary. Just take her aside. DONT ACCUSE her of anything and agree to disagree. Sound to good to be true? Try it and see.

Well to me it seems stressful because there is tention between you guys. And you're probably afraid of losing a friend. Thats how I was when my friend and I were fighting just this past week.It also may cause stress because you are afraid of your other friends turning against you. There could be a lot of reasons fighting with friends causes stress. Hope this helped.

Because when you let someone into your world they become a part of your support system. When you have a conflict with them, they're not only out of your support system...they're something you need support about!
It's the emotional equivalent of needing a cane to walk, and having someone take away your cane and smacking you with it. Not only are you limping, you're taking hits.

I can think of two reasons.
1. You don't want to lose your good friend.
2. You’re afraid that your friend may bring up one of your secrets, and/or weaknesses that you’re really sensitive about.

because you shouldn't fight with friends and fighting like that isn't what friends do.friends are suppose to support you and they always got your back and when they don't that is what makes it so bad.
