No, he's a comedic news journalist.
And, yes, watching the Daily Show does count as learning about current events. Why? Because if nothing else, you learn that something happened, because they're making a parody of it.
That gives you the option to go find out more about it from other sources. Whereas if you didn't even know it occured, you wouldn't have the option of tracking down more information.
I get most of my news from Findlaw, AP, and other online wire services. But I also watch Fox News, MSNBC and the Daily Show just to see what events people are talking about.

Surely you are kidding? Jon Stewart is a comedian and sometimes actor; The Daily Show is a news parody with a single (serious) talk show segment.
Even Bill O'Reilly knows (and appreciates) that.

Jon Stewart is the current - but weaker - version of the 1970's Dennis Miller.
Great political commentary, but not serious journalism.
That said, political humor does have value.
See: Lewis Black
Black is a better reincarnation of the angrier Miller.

Why do you think of that kind of element might dissatisfied us. we don't love John Stewart because of the fact he's a poster boy for the democratic stream. we like John Stewart because of the fact in assessment to all the different information businesses, he's taking the might desire to appreciate information and grants it in a manner that would not make us desire to pass slowly right into a hollow and die on the tip of the printed. He sheds easy on serious themes that desire interest without depressing us over the certainty that ninety% of our elected leaders act like a gaggle of idiots attempting to verify a thank you to hump a door knob. final nighttime's application grew to become right into a primary occasion of why we like John, because of the fact at the same time as specific he grew to become into agreeing with fox information, he observed purely how screwed up the area grew to become into while human beings like dick cheney have been annoying government accountability and donald rumsfeld grew to become into complaining approximately how speaking factors have been replaced.

I like to read the news and keep up with current events, his show is not news though, it is political satire. However he does have respectable guest on his show and if you do keep up with current events his show is halarious.

I'm somewhat liberal and I can't stand the Daily show any more, it used to be funny,
I find John Stewart dull and none of it is funny, not even his writers, sheesh.
Bill Maher blows his show out of the water,
I liked it when Craig Kilborne was there, much funnier, and more informative too.

you're kidding, right? he's a comedian on a comedy show...it seems that with all the furor over him from the conservatives, THEY don't get it...but then again, a lot of them think that rush, o'reilly, and beck are somehow connected with, or involved in, journalism...

John stewart is a sissyboy. Look at him in this video curling into a fetus like a little girl as Vanilla Ice pretends to attack him:
