No, I think it would be better if we stress Yahoo by being bad subjects for their marketing experiments. They are using statistical analysis and gimmickry to elicit information about our desires, preferences, tendencies, ect. They should not be permitted to glean this information without our explicit consent. "Top contributers" to Yahoo = those who exhibit patterns useful to, guess who, Yahoo. We need to vigorously investigate what Yahoo is about...our questions should reflect this.

It might be alright for yahoo and the charity they give it to, but it won't make any difference to you. Yahoo created this site for it's own purposes and I think we should respect that premise if we want to come play here. I'm not saying that you don't have a good idea, and I am not trying to put you down, but the fact that they are honoring someone's work should be appreciated for what it is. If Yahoo were to donate a penny to charity in that person's name, that would make a difference to you! (if you were a top contributor) but it would probably turn out to be a lousy business model for Yahoo unless they could get someone to sponsor it. I'm sure that if you asked Yahoo what their charitable contributions per year were, you might be pleasantly surprised at the percentage they already contribute. It is good for their taxable base, and it is even better for public relations. I am sure that any company with an interest in longevity would be watching both of those bottom lines very carefully.

The orange boxes should be optional. No one should be saddled with a visible badge if they do not want to have it displayed. It could just as easily be added to the profile page. While the Yamster wants to "reward knowledgeable people" , unfortunately some of those same TCs now regard themselves as " experts".... how silly is that since approximately 90% of what we read here is opinion based.

That would be nice, wouldn't it? Unfortuantly, Yahoo Answers is trying to tap into user generated content to make money. The ideals of Wikipedia aside. People like youtube guys are making the big bucks off the user generated contents. Getting themselves a piece of pie is their major concern. Giving to charity is probably the last thing they thought about.

Absolutely. Especially if the top contributor could choose the charity they wanted the money go to. That would be awesome!

I think it's even better if we can have answer to all our questions about life from Yahoo answers, become cause over our life,
and become self-realized individuals contributing to the
progress of the world and the universe at large....then, and only then will Yahoo answers align its goal to the goal of the Source...
then, it will all be worthwhile.

i would donate 1 dollar for building new schools and making sure every child grows up with a clear understanding of life and the world they live in, but i wouldn't donate a cent to charity. its a waste of money.

Yeah I don't know about this whole orange box thing...I was fine with the way it was before. I guess as long as they don't put a little box under my name saying "spends too much time on the internet answering questions" I'll be all right! Tee hee...
