Well, they hate Chavez because he put his foot down and said NO to the IMF and the World Bank, he insisted that the wealth from oil in his country would benefit those people in his country instead of profiteers from the US. He also had the extremely evil temerity, to demand that every single voter in the last election receive a voter checked receipt which than in front of the voters' own eyes, put in locked boxes to stand as a safeguard and check against voter fraud. In other words, he was so evil that he wanted a truly fair and democratic election. imagine that.
And, he even had the (insert more sarcasm here, if you hadn't figured it out already) extreme gall to send all kinds of relief including a whole bunch of generator, and tons of food and water to the Hurricane Katrina victims whose own country couldn't even be bothered to help much until it was too late and massive numbers of the poor died!

Can't argue with the first part. But what Chavez is trying to do is doomed to failure. Socialist governments will always end in ruin. Like communism, its a nice concept, but it was no real world applications at the national gov't level.
