I was a child in the 2nd world war, in England. Everything was scarce and strictly rationed. No one smoked in my family and cigarettes were scarce. I managed to cadge one from the milk moniter at school. I went to the toilet with 2 girlfriends, I broke the non-filtered Willie-Woodbine cig.into 3 and we tried lighting them, but burnt our noses. We blew enough smoke to come out through the top of the doorway. We were reported, the Headmaster dragged us to the assemblyroom and we were caned in front of the whole school. We tried again later, on the way home from school, this time it was whole and we passed it to each other, terrified someone would report us, as we were only ten years old, and skinny for lack of food. We rubbed toothpaste into our teeth with our fingers so our mothers would not suspect anything when we returned. I smoked when I was 23 when I was a Pan Am stewardess, just cos I thought it looked sophisticated, but stopped at 24. I guess I didn't inhale as I never craved for one later, even though some friends smoked in my presence.
My father was VERY strict about smoking and alcohol. He lived till he was 95 as an active strong man, never smoked nor drank. My partner and I drink a glass of wine with dinner and neither of us smoke. We are 70, slim, healthy and good looking by most standards! Respect your lungs they never have a holiday. If they do you're gonnas.

I both smoked (stupidly) and drank (mostly sensibly). Yes, my mum knew. She took the view that if I was old enough to know what I was doing, I was old enough to do it.
I still smoke (stupidly) and drink (mostly sensibly).

no. be your own person. don't be a sheep to slaughter. keep clean. the wrong side always seems to be the better side of the fence. gods finale joke on us is when we age to the point of teeth falling off, cancer, wrinkles on the face, and body is tired. then you will look back. was it worth it? i was a teenager once
now----------- am looking looking back.
