The pay depends on experience, if you're just starting out obviuosly the pay is not going as much with somebody with years of experience.

But if this is something you are really good at, and you enjoy Graphic deisgn then go for it. Have you finished you're studies? e.g degree or certificate. As regards to Stress, every job comes with Stress, depends how you handle it , I do know , that sometimes you may be given a job to have ready within 24 hours or even less, which is pressure, but if you have the right training , plus you work in a team. I have small business which have services in this field, also website design. Every job has it's hard days.

If you reallly, really, enjoy graphic design, and this is what you really want to do , then give it a go. Most people change thier professions 2 -3 times throughout there career life.

The pay is as good as the work you can do. The better you get the more in demand you will be. I suggest you take some classes at the college near you and perhaps you may want to look into web design as well. There is lots of opportunity out there but you have to be good so get the degree.
I personally find graphic art to be relaxing but at the moment I do not have any deadlines. Always make sure you are not too rushed. Michelangelo did not get the Sistine Chapel painted over night.
I love it and it is easier then most will make you think it is.
