I think I have a yeast infection, but its super embarrassing to tell my mom. I just can't. We don't talk about that stuff. Is there anyway I can buy something to take care of it without having my mom find out? Like a cream or wipes or something? Do you have to be a certain age to buy that stuff? Are there any side effects that could happen by using a cream or something, that I would have to go to the doctor and then my mom would find out I bought the cream?

No, there isn't an age limit on yeast infection cream. Just go to the store and buy Monistat. I like the one day treatment. Just make sure that you use it right before you go to bed, because otherwise it will come out and get all over. It helps if you also wear a pad or a pantiliner after you use it. Don't use a tampon, that could cause a more serious infection. Hope I helped!

It is best to see the doc if you have never been "diagnosed" with one before. You can visit a Planned Parenthood alone and they can see you and prescribe Diflucan which is the best treatment. Also, it can be confidential and your Mom will not find out if you visited one.

If you do decide to go over-the-counter, my doctor always recommends the 3 day treatment. But the reason why you should be diagnosed by a doc, is that if it's not a yeast infection, the OTC stuff can cause one and make it worse. You do not need to be a certain age to purchase.

Having yeast infections are completely normal - annoying, but normal. It is best to take care of asap because it will only get worse.

Good luck.

Monistat is probably the best over the counter med for a yeast infection. You don't have to be a certain age to buy it so your mom shouldn't find out about it and there are no serious side effects from it.

Go to your local teen clinic, if you don't know where one is look it up in the phone book. They will keep everything confidential there and you will never have to worry about your mom finding out.
Plus a yeast infection is something you should talk to your mom about, because it's not from sex so she can't say your having sex.

If you think you have an infection, even though its embarrassing, you need to see a doctor about it. It's probably something that will be easy to treat, but infections "down there" aren't something to mess around with -- you want to make sure that you treat them correctly! (Depending on what it is, if you treat it wrong, you could do some damage to your reproductive organs, and that's just not a good idea.) Good luck!

DONT BE SHY TO TELL UR MOM ABOUT THIS...ITS NOT EMBARRASSING IF U HAVE YEAST INFECTION...OUR BODY HAVE GOOD AND BAD BACTERIA... IF UR GOOD BACTERIA COMES WEAK, THE YEAST WILL GROW. ANTIBIOTIC KILL ALL BACTERIA EVEN GOOD, SO STAY AWAY FROM ANTIBIOTICS...AVOID SWEET FOODS...DONT EAT CHOCOLATES, EAT A LOT OF PLAIN YOGURT AND CRANBERRY JUICE, USE VAGISIL WIPES AND KEEP UR BOTTOM DRY. AND THE BEST THING TO DO IS CONSULT A DOCTOR BECAUSE THERES A LOT OF KIND OF INFECTIONS...IF IT IS UR FIRST TIME UR NOT SURE WHAT KIND OF INFECTION IT IS. TELL UR MOM BECAUSE IF U TREAT IT NOT RIGHT, IT WILL KEEP ON COMING BACK.
