When I was a child in Georgia, I was told by the judge that I could choose which parent I lived with when I became 12. By the time I was 12 I realized my mom provided a more stable, loving environment than my father. That was a looong time ago. Call one of your parents divorce attorneys and ask.

I have been through this. My ex lives on the other side of the USA. I felt 13 was old enough. It depends on your child. I feel.

There are legalities about this but I feel morally it is between the parents.
Otherwise, trying to remember, my court documentation it is 18 or out of school. If that is you have full custody as I do.

The word "child" seems to say it all. It's the parents decision as to which parent/living arrangement would be the better of the two and the court only intercedes if there is a dispute.

12 or 13. as long as it is the childs decision and in the best interest of the child.

When my parents got divorced the hardest decision was which parent I wanted to live with. I chose my mother because she was there for me and always willingly to talk with unlike my father whom was never around or there for me.

Be supportive with your childs decision on this, it may effect your relationship with him or her if you are not supportive. The last thing on earth you would want to loose is your child.

The courts must see that the child is mature enough to make that decision.
