I have a Dell Dimension E521, 3 weeks old. The hard drive won't calm down. I was monitoring the AMD processors, and they were constantly processing something. Even when I wasn't doing anything. My mouse also shows a loading icon every 5 seconds. HELP?!! 10 points for best answer.

hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and look at the CPU and Mem Usage columns in the Process tab to see which process is using up so much power. If it is non-essential, you can end it and free up some space.

Do check the process tab to see what all is running.

Then check how much memory you have, if you have Vista and 512 meg you need to add at least another 512 meg if you want to see your poor ol harddrive and processors not have to work so much. Seems that Vista really wants alot of ram.
