If its your first period then I would say the only real symptom you will notice is when you have a blood discharge coming out of ya!

My first period I didnt feel unusual in anyway but I looked down at one moment and noticed blood right through my jeans :/ It was embaressing but such is a young girls life lol

Afterwards tho, you will start to know if your period is coming by PMS. You get PMS a week or a couple days before your period begins - you start to get really moody (one second you are very very sensitve and the next second you might be very happy!), and you might notice your breasts become a little tender. Once your period begins you will start to have some cramping - its different for everyone tho. Some girls say they have no pain at all while all the women in my family get the pains so bad that sometimes we cry :( Its very annoying but it can rly be painful! Its kinda like gas pain only you can't pass it lol

A lot of girls also tend to bloat during their period - meaning they might gain a pound or two temporarily but after the time of the month is over the pounds are washed away. Drinking water can help with this and the cramping :)

Some things are blood coming out of your you know what and menstrual cramps. If you get cramps, try to be active. Use tampons and pads and change them on a regular basis. My advice to you is to get a Keeper menstrual cup. You'll save on tampons and you would not feel a thing. Pads feel like diapers. How does that work although I am not a woman but I would like to advise others?

some women have no symptoms until they start discharge.
many women experience head achs, cramping, general bitchy attitude, lol ok i meant are they are short of patience, and some can feel depressed.

you'll get really heavy cramps in your lower stomach. You'll probably not want to eat to much and if you do it it'll make the cramps a little rougher. it's not that bad though. if you keep warm the cramps will ease.

It's horrible,you get pain in your stomach,get really moody and take it out in people,feel as if you want to kill someone.. You feel sick and tired.. Also don't want to eat very much at all x
