Meiosis is the process of nuclear division that results in four haploid daughter cells. It involves the nucleus, but since the nucleus is degraded and two new nuclei are formed in the process, it really occurs in the cytoplasm.

Meiosis doesn't happen in any organelle. Its a process that occur in the whole cell, duplicating the genetic material DNA (2 alleles) of a 'mother' cell and generating four daughter cells with half of the DNA (1 allele each).

meiosis does not take place in and cell oraganelle, it takes place in the ovary and the testis.
