Those people have nothing better to do with their time and are not worth even one second of your consideration.
Enjoy your life and your baby. Act like others need to mind their own business if they have anything to say except 'bless you' or 'congratulations' or 'I can't wait to buy you something, what do you need?'

They judge you because you are young, still in school, not married, have no job, no house and nothing to show that your responsible enough to handle a baby. As harsh as it is, you have to see their side of it and not just yours.
Whether they're right or wrong to judge you, I can't say only because, you haven't really said what they say to you. Your family is deeply disappointed in you and although you are happy about the baby, your future is all that much harder. You are still with your boyfriend, your still in school but for how long can you hold it all together. The future is filled with ups and downs, be prepared for the worst and show everyone you can handle what life brings you.
These people have a right to judge you only because they know all too well how hard it is to raise children.. Instead of being angry, I suggest you listen to them and get some advice and their help, you'll need it one day.
If I could go back, I'd wait until I was more established in my life (had a career, a house, a job). I could provide a lot more now, than back then and although they grew up great, I regret not offering them more growing up. Good luck.

We live in such a judgemental society. And I'm sorry you're feeling judged by other people. You just hang tough. You sound like you are really keeping your act together. So, let others think what they will and act the way they will, and just don't let it get to ya!
I'm much older than you. Believe me when I say that if it's not one thing, such as teen pregnancy, then it's something else like smoking, eating habits, the car you drive, etc... People just want to think that because they don't do what someone else does, then they are better than them. HA! Just use this as a learning experience and know that we're all equal, living our lives with choices we make. No one can live your life like you can. Make the most of it.
Best wishes for you and your little one!

because they know that everything is going well for you right now, but as soon as that baby is born ur going to lose ur boyfriend. he's not going to want to deal with the stress of a baby when he's still just a child. ur friends aren't going to have time for you any more because they are going to be dealing with finishing high school and starting college. u might still be the same person, but that might be the problem. with have a baby comes maturity, and at 17 yrs. old, i doubt that u are mature. some people mature because they are forced to, and i hope u do. i hope u don't have to struggle like others do. but the people around you just want u to be realistic about the things that are going to happen to u. u are a single 17yr old child that has not yet graduated from high school, nor have a good job. i'm not saying that ur going to be miserable for the rest of ur life. but u need wake up. things are going to change drasticly when you have a baby.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders.
I guess people are concerned b/c you are so young & they know how hard it is to raise a child. You are not alone in a world of teenage pregnancy. In time it will change as people see how well you manage. There is no doubt that you have complicated your life. At 17 it would seem that you should enjoy freedom. You would be exploring the world unemcumbered.
There must be a small part of you that is afraid or the looks of others would not affect you.
I wish you luck as you enter the most important phase of your life.

Well I'm 21 and I get the same reaction. I think it's because people are just ignorant. That and they don't consider our feelings into their judgments. I'm 29 weeks with my baby girl and I'm happy. My parents still have their doubts and when I go out people still look at me like I'm crazy, but the only thing you can really do is stay above their level. Just know that we are doing something that is a blessing and people are going to try to find a curse in it. I'm proud that you're still in school and you're still you. Don't let anyone bring you down. Believe me i know it's hard but you obviously got the strength to do it so just stay strong. Congratulations on your pregnancy, good luck and God bless.

Some people just do it because they're judgmental by nature, and you're not going to change that.
Here's the thing... you're 17. Young motherhood is HARD. Seriously. I have friends who were mothers at this age and younger, and their lives haven't been easy. Going to college is nearly impossible. Suddenly you HAVE to have a job, because baby formula and diapers don't buy themselves. People know how hard your life is going to be. Perhaps you know it, too. But I would like to think that as far as your family is concerned the judgements come from geniune concern for your well-being and nothing more.
Be glad the people around you care. And for those who give you grief... you don't need them around you anyway. Life is tough enough. You need to be supported, not insulted.

To answer your question: People usually judge others because they are miserable or something you have done makes them think back to something they have done that they are actually ashamed of doing. Also, family tends to act differently because they worry about how you will deal with this messed up judgmentalism from society. I am glad that you have been making some responsible choices for your life and your baby's life. And it is wonderful that you are still excited about being a mother in the face of all the negativity that you have been experiencing....as said by others: Continue your resolve to not let others bring you down and try not to let the negativity affect your life decisions. Keep up the positive vibe!

The problem here, kiddo, is that you have not done the required reading.
"What manner of mind considers this holy estate, which women are privileged by the Almighty to obtain, as a slur upon the social conscience?"

That's the trouble with this world today. Teenagers thinking that it's cool to have a baby. Anyways, people will judge because you have a brain and you knew that you could get pregnant from having sex. Yet, you still had sex, because it's the "in" thing. Teenagers should focus on getting an education and not spreading their legs to their boyfriends.
