Well Crosby is an amazing hockey player but my vote would be for Ovechkin.Crosby has a team behind him and a rather good one.Alexander on the other hand is pretty much on his own.
So , it's Alexander Ovechkin for me !! :)

Crosby makes everyone on the ice better. Ovechkin is a great player, but he's a finisher and not a contributor to the overall team.

you can hardly even decide between the two.
crosby has more points in his career, and already in his second year, has gretzky similar stats. he's the one they are comparing to wayne, and not alexander ovechkin. however, this could be the team that he was drafted to. take a look at pittsburgh compared to washington. crosby is working with ryan mmalone, mark recchi, gary roberts, evgeni malkin (also an amazing rookie) and john leclair. ovechkin is up and coming with...olaf kolzig??? its tough to say that ovechkin is worse...but the team he is on really makes a big difference. im sure if you put him on...lets say.... the minnesota wild...with a young guy like marian gaborik, they would click right away.
im a canadian, so i go with crosby.

Ovechkin

I think he is an all-around better player. He plays well in both ends of the ice, he hits, he plays hard every night, he's a phenomenal talent, and right now, he is on a team with few players to help him out.

I personally dislike Crosby, and it is due to the manner in which he conducts himself on the ice. He throws temper tantrums (e.g throws his helmet when he gets mad), he'll give a player a stick in the chest or stomach after the play when there is a number of people around (of course). He'll constantly run his mouth to veteran all-star players, for example, Peter Forsberg, before he has even established himself as a tenured threat.

I will give him this; most of what I said is based on last year. He is a good young player, and he has been better (point wise) since he has played on a great line, and has a lot of options to pass to, thus so many assists. He has also handled himself more maturly this year. He has yet to prove himself though, so lay off the Gretzky comparisons until he's in his 6th or 7th season, has a few Stanley Cup rings on his fingers, and is as good then as he is now.

Crosby is far and away a more complete player than AO right now.

Alex is a power forward who can score goals.

Sid has the vision of Ron Francis and the scoring touch of Gretzky.

The Pens and the Caps for all intents and purposes have had similar drafting position the last 3 seasons yet it is the Pens who are not only competitive, they are almost the cream of the league.

Crosby by far as far as you fans that says he is on a better team you might wabt to look at last year too. The pens were not too good and he was still the star of the league as he is this year just watch him for a couple games and the abuse he takes. He is the best person off the ice and sure not cocky at all. He takes not credit for anything and just wants to win and thinnk they will get the cup this year. And official now they are staying in pittsburgh GO PENS!!!!

Ovechkin is almost all alone (only Semin and hes really good), but Crosby have all the talent around him. Its hard to decide they are both really good!!!

They're both great players but I prefer Crosby..the dude has skills...he just got his 100 point today and he is the youngest player to get two 100 point seasons. Thats is a great accomplishment....he plays good both offense and defense. And did I mention he is only 19...he would probably break a bunch of records by the end of his career.

personally i prefer ovechkin's play because he's more phyiscal than crosby. he forechecks harder so in that sense he makes more plays but i think crosby is better because hes owning the league in assists which means he is really good at setting up teammates for goals.
