Funny 50th Birthday Poem, An Example
Dear Uncle
Hip, hip hooray, what a hoot!
It's Dave Dykstra's big, big day.
Our Uncle is turning fifty,
What more can we say?
He's such a great guy, our uncle,
So warm and sweet and kind.
Just ask his darlin' wife, that's Trish,
She'll tell you he's a real find!
So special in every way,
In all his words and deed.
uncle is so giving and caring,
Helps anyone in need.
With a fabulous sense of humor,
The life of every party,
A regular wise guy, that's for sure,
In short, the perfect smartie!
Was in the plumbing business,
DM Dykstra, then Torvac.
Uncle always worked real hard and smart,
Success he'd never lack.
Made a big splash on network TV,
A commercial star for Liquid Plumber.
Down the drain and up toward greatness,
That's our uncle, a real live comer!
Got a super-duper family,
Six daughters, they're the tops.
Amy, Jamie, Dana, Erin,
Katie and Ashley -- all love their pops!
Got eight grandkids, too,
Best in the world, you bet.
Anthony, Nina, Jake, Paulie and Gavin,
Justin, Georgia and yes…Nicolette!
Step kids and step grandkids as well,
Dave's house and heart are full.
He loves his whole family just so much,
That's truth -- it ain't no bull!
And wonder of all the wonders,
Just to show that life is great,
Dave met and wooed and married
Dear Trish - his true soul mate.
He's half Dutch and all Italian,
Loves his paesano side.
He's a natural-born Soprano,
His Italian heart is his constant guide.
We're a family that loves our pasta,
Grandma's homemade gnocchi's best.
And Trish's dishes? Delicioso!
So much better than the rest.
Dad loves to hear Sinatra,
And Dino does the job.
His favorite movie? 'The Godfather' of course,
Leave it to Dad to love the mob.
He's got a heart that's just pure gold,
He gives his all to all of us.
Never a sorry or downcast word,
Never a fidget or fuss.
We love you, uncle, 'cause you're the best,
Your goodness can amaze.
And on your birthday our one great wish
Is joy and health for all your days.
Love,
Amy

Why don't you write a short poem about a funny situation you were in that might make him laugh? Or was there something funny that happened to you and your uncle one time? Try and write one on your own, it will mean more to him and will be more meaningful.
You can look at some on the Internet for ideas though!
Good luck!

Another Year
I’m wishing you another year
Of laughter, joy and fun,
Surprises, love and happiness,
And when your birthday’s done,
I hope you feel deep in your heart,
As your birthdays come and go,
How very much you mean to me,
More than you can know.
