Pretty sure you can only be tried for murder once per case.

As far as I know, Kevorkian was only tried once for murder (2nd degree homicide) in 1999.

All other trials were on charges of assisting suicide.

He was only tried once re Youk.

However, he has been tried other times, with three acquittals and one mistrial.
