Depends if you have got any already and you want to use your wifi connection.
Your computers use wifi adapters to talk to the wifi router... no adapters, no way they can use the wifi connection.

no you dont need an adapter, you just only need wire less Lan card (network card) on your lab top or your desk top pc , then you can make a wire less net work .
