Being emo is not a bad thing. Being emo can somehow be seen as trying to be an outcast of some kind, while it is actually becoming really trendy. The idea that it is trendy not to fit in contradicts itself.

I am 30, I missed the emo train, but I think the people that dress like that look cool. You have to consider that you aren't gonna be emo when you are 30, if that were the case, I'd still be wearing new kids t-shirts scrunchies and tons of bangles..good god. Its cool to be anything as long as you are yourself, and I seriously doubt you'll be emo at 30, it won't exist then.

Having no self control or discipline is the sign of a child. Enjoying being down is one thing. Never checking yourself and figuring out when and where it would be inappropriate is another thing. Could 'emo' eventually become a spiritual or social movement where self control is seen as harmful, unnatural, and too restrictive?

It isn't bad. Most of the emo types around here seem rpetty decent people,much more pleasant than the chavs.
And emo girls are damned hot.

not all emo's are depressed and cut thmeselves, that is such a generalisation.
I don't think there is anything bad in choosing to look or act or dress a certain way. People and cultures have been doing it for years.

I hate it when people stereotype people for being emo. They only see them as cutting themselves and being all depressed. It's not really bad, so to speak. People just can't stand people different than themselves, so they criticize them for being different.

I don't think that being emo is bad.
I believe that self-mutilation/suicide is bad though.
Emos have cool hair and clothes.

people think they are "bad" because they like heavy rock music and dress diffrent. Want is bad about that I think give it time people will get used to it and accept it.
