'Wanna know a beauty secret that hardly any girl knows? Here you go:
Make up, clothes and all of the other things you could do to make yourself look "beautiful" are worth nothing. In our society, people believe skinny is good and consider average people "fat" and "ugly". So many girls are starving themselves or throwing up just to look a certain way. They think they will feel beautiful that way. In the end, some DO get skinny-very skinny, just like they wanted. Then in a few days, they die. I'm not trying to scare you or exaggerate. Everyday there are girls (and guys too of course) who die from an eating disorder because society says that if you want to look good you have to be really skinny. Don't waste your time buying make up or any of that stuff-keep your money and spend it on something worth it.
You may not realize it but you are original and pretty. You are worth way more than you could ever understand. Don't put yourself down and call yourself "the ugly duckling". You are SO NOT the ugly duckling. Love yourself and be happy with who you are-then you'll see that you and other people who may feel the way you do, are NOT ugly ducklings.
If you want, you can buy a little make up and ENHANCE your features-but don't get it because you feel ugly and want it to make you look pretty.
I feel your pain, I feel bad like you do too sometimes. But I remind myself what I told you.
All the best!

What makes you think you're the ugly duckling? Is this a case of low self-esteem rather than ugliness? Sometimes the most attractive people are a mass of insecurity, they just don't show it. If you must use make-up try to keep it natural and emphasise your best feature/s, eyes maybe? Personally I've always preferred to concentrate on making my hair/skin look as good as possible and use only the barest minimum of make up (mascara). I suspect you're every bit as pretty as your friends.

Put it this way i was always ugly duckling in my family when i was younger and with some time when i found my style and how to do my hair that would look better, and other things that complimented me. Besides the real beauty that start showing a lil later on when i start growing people in my family and men start noticing very exotic look about me. Men love that in me and i never had problems to get attention of the most good looking and desired men. So no worries sweety. They might look like Barbie dolls (your friends) but it is not what real is looking for. They looking for exotic look, natural good look preferably without requiring pounds of make up. My only advice is try to pay attention to other females that to you look fabulous wearing. Buy Cosmopolitan....trust me its on of my favorites and it is very legit when it comes to advices on a lot of things. Good luck and have fun with yourself!

Just be yourself. Beauty is skin deep. A wise old fisherman once said about make-up, "You can paint up an old boat, but it's still not safe to go fishing in it." Make-up doesn't make your friends any better than you are. I'm a guy and when I see a girl who wears a lot of make-up, I always wonder what she's hiding.
Good Luck.

You know, my best friend is incredibly beautiful, and I was always jealous of her when we dressed up/put on make-up, etc. But then, I started finding things about myself that I really loved, like my hair. Everyone always compliments me on it and it makes me feel good. It's not about competing with looks against your friends. Feel good about yourself, and not the one you compare your friends with. That one doesn't exist.
