I would walk quietly to the door and look through the peep hole. If it is not someone I recognize or someone I don't like, then I would call 911. Since it would most likely be someone looking for help, the police will be there soon to help them.

They need to either have a great reason for waking me at 3 in the morning or a deathwish. I would see who it was but disturbing me would be a bad plan whoever they were.

Reminds me of a joke.. 3am pouring of rain,a man knocks on a random door ,woman answers ,guy says can you give me a push ?she tells him to bugger off it,s 3am and goes back to bed.Lying there she feels guilty and goes back down shouting into the night "you still there"? "yes" comes the faint reply "where are you" says the woman "over here on the swings" lol (i liked it)

I would look out the window to see if it is someone I know...and if it isn't someone I know I would grab a phone (just in case) and go back into my bedroom.

I had that happen once. It made me upset, because I had to get up for work in 4 hours. I did not answer it though. It would not have been pretty.
