I currently have Cingular and I want to buy this UNLOCKED phone from amazon.com and it said this...

Unlocked for use with your existing Triple band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/1800/1900 service provider and SIM card. Note: This phone does not come with service or a SIM card.

But I don't know how to tell if I have a GSM compatible phone...
PLEASE HELP.

GSM is the technology that uses sim cards. If its unlocked, GSM and Quad Band (having 4 frequencies 850/900/1900/1800) then Cingular can use it. If you will use it in the US primarily, then all you really need is it to have 850 AND 1900.

Open up the back cover, take out the battery if necessary, can you see a slot in which a small card is inserted?
Then it is a GSM phone.
NOTE: the ad says it is tri-band plus it talks about a simcard, so it is a GSM supported cellphone.
Good luck
