Shut down your computer start again.
If that doesn't work...
Install then reinstall the game and start again.
If that doesn't work...
Search through you files and delete anything you don't use so you can clear your computers memory then try the above two things again
If that doesn't work...
Stop playing it and see if anything else is happening that didn't use to. if so take to a computer mechanic because it may have a virus or need more memory or something along those lines.

there's a couple things that could be the problem. Your computer could be overheating...try turning it off for a while/ restarting it. Or your disc could be scratched...take it out and breathe on it then wipe it with your shirt. Or it could be that your computer isn't compatible with it. Either your computer is too old for the games software or too new (it could work better with sims2).
