"I don't date married men", isn't that the same as saying, "I don't date married men, but....."
Why would you have to state the obvious. Unless our society is so warped that women have to make sure they make it a point to tell people they don't commit adultery. I don't believe that is the case.

I believe it is just like a drug dealer selling crack to someone and the individual says "I don't smoke crack" as opposed to just saying "no." If you hear someone say "I don't smoke crack", the first thing that will come to your mind is "ok...you don't smoke crack but.....?

Same thing here: Women that say they don't mess with married men have considered it and by saying it they are only trying to convince themselves that they don't mess with married men. When in fact, they do. I know this to be true and other married men can testify to this as well. Does anyone agree?

No, I don't agree I have had many married men hit on me and my answer to them is" I don't date married men". I don't just go around saying I don't date married men to everyone but if a married man is asking me out then I have every right to tell them why i won't go out with them. I may be attracted to that man but because of my morals i won't go out with a married man. Should I just lie and say I am not attracted would that be the better thing to do. I think not I would rather be honest.
It would seem that the better question would be why do so many married men ask single women out. This is not to say that there may be some women who in fact do as you say but i think that the majority of us who say we don't date married men are in fact telling the truth.

sometimes there are no buts. maybe they are saying this in the midst of a conversation or someone has asked them and they feel strongly about it. or maybe they've done it before and are determined not to do it again because they've learned something from the experience and want to express that

why would you assume that would be stating the obvious?

and it sounds really narrowminded of you to decide what kind of marraiges ppl should have...there are lots of open marraiges so maybe one day when you grow up you will learn that ppl are different.
