It was written while she was in hiding, I wonder if she felt the same after captured? I've wondered this before.
Possibly she saw how the system and circumstance makes people act the way they do. I thought of this quote when I was watching on TV, social experiments that take people and have them shocking people in another room (not really..but they believe they are) and how people blindly follow authority. As an individual it's an awful act and few would have chosen to do it, but they are ordinary people, and most of them just followed orders. They appear evil in one situation, but in a different situation, they might be your best friend.

Wow. That Anne Frank was a fabulous person! Those Nazis who hurt her and all the other people imprisoned in concentration camps are the exception. I think Anne knew in her heart that people are loving and caring more than they are crazy, violent and harmful. Thanks for a great question

When you're in a situation like hers where you are being hunted and killed because of your race, it's hard not to WANT to believe that no one is purely evil. How could people be like this? Is it human nature or is it a few rotten eggs trying to do what they feel is necessary?
