Tow it to the junkyard and dump it. It'll cost much more than the $ 1500 the mechanic quoted since the airbags alone will cost nearly that much to repack/replace. The frame damage will obviously not be addressed for the amount he quoted and of course there's the cosmetic damage as well. I would get another mechanic to evaluate the car, then call the insurance company and have the car totalled, since it'll obviously be at least more than "book value" to have the thing repaired. Count your blessings your daughter wasn't seriously injured and get her another car.

I would say not much of a mechanic. When you get into a crash there is a switch that will stop the gas flow to prevent a fire.
This switch is designed to stop the fuel flow.
This switch needs to be reset
it is also called a bump switch an eneressa switch.
What ever it is called, it needs to be rest not replaced. Have him teset the switch.
'It is easy and all you need do it push in the button.
It is on the pass side just behind the kick panel on the pass side.

You can't be fixing that damage as decribed for $1500. The airbags alone will cost that much, and I don't think the car will run without fixing the airbags and replacing the airbag computer

i would total it. put another $500 on the quote for the repair and get a used car on the cheap. at least it will run for a little bit until your daughter gets enough experience for a newer car.
